7-8:30

Have you been curious about steeking but too intimidated to try it? Cutting your knitting is scary! We’ve got the perfect mini workshop for you to face your fears, conquer this useful skill and build on your knitting knowledge.

Taught by knit designer Jennifer Owens, students will create a cute cup cozy in this 3 week course.

Class 1: swatch and practice the pattern for gauge, we’ll be doing a simple slip stitch pattern. Cast on and complete most of the cozy.

Class 2: finish cozy, reinforce the steek and cut.

Class 3: pick up sts and do the button bands. Sew on buttons

Skills required- ability to knit a small circumference in the round (dpns, magic loop or shorties), chain crochet (for the steek reinforcement)

Supplies needed: 2 contrasting colors of *non-Superwash yarn, sport, dk or worsted. Needles sized to yarn, the sample was knit using sport weight yarn on size 4 needles. Buttons
* it’s important to use a non Superwash wool yarn, most Superwash is too slippery for the steeking. You are welcome to use your own scrap yarn for the project, but if you don’t have any, we do have sport weight 50g skeins for purchase at 10% off for class participants.
